Every now and then an extremely fun project comes through the doors; Innovolabs was one of those projects. The client gave me the artistic license to create a logo using my own style of design and illustration. The result was some of my personal favorite logo concepts to date.
Jana is my wife and the co-founder of Muku Studios. As you can imagine there was some pressure to get this site designed and developed right. I know I’m obligated to say so, but Jana truly is an extremely talented photographer and designer. Check out her emotionally moving pictures at www.janamorgan.com.
It’s always an honor to have anything featured on the FWA. This wallpaper is a vector illustration of abstract lines, although my alternate title is “Space Worms.” I wanted to create something simple, beautiful and open to interpretation. Download the file from the FWA website.
Muku Studios was honored to be featured in the Los Logos 4 book published by Gestalten. Luckily I was able to take this picture before arriving home from the movies one night to find that my dogs ate half the book. Apparently puppies love logo design too! Check us out on page 199.
Muku Studios had the pleasure of designing the website for our personal friend and Wordpress consultant and developer, Jeff Milone. The site was designed to reflect Jeff’s personality and environment.
Thank God for Wordpress. It’s still no easy task to design and develop a Wordpress theme, but it beats re-programming an entire new Flash site any day. My focus has been all over the place for the past few months. Any blog updates I’ve made on Muku Studios have basically been a lame attempt at trying to maintain traffic on the site — like feeding the public empty calories. However, I’m attempting to remedy the situation by providing more quality content on the site. A friend of mine at Wordful has recently stressed the importance of great content and social networking. I guess I’ve always had a hunch it was important, but just haven’t had the time to write, Tweet and Facebook on a regular basis. Especially while trying to design, develop and quote other projects in the meantime. However, a poor economy has provided me with a little extra time on my hands, and I’ve been trying to put it to good use.
So, about this new theme design — you are witnessing the first Organic Theme. Muku Studios has been working on an exciting new project, a Wordpress theme shop we’re calling Organic Themes. Why Organic Themes? Well, a percentage of all theme sales will be donated to environmental causes and charities. The themes will be very affordable, GPL licensed, coded and designed beautifully, easy to customize, content managed and help save the planet. I don’t think it gets any cooler than that! We haven’t set an official release date yet, but I wanted to start some buzz about the project. This current theme is based off the Organic Portfolio Theme. We plan to open the shop with at least 4 unique and well designed themes aimed at a variety of demographics, and then update the shop with new themes on a regular basis. That’s all the information I’m willing to disclose at the moment, but I’ll keep you informed as news develops.
In addition to Organic Themes, Muku has recently launched Discover Garden — the Hawaii Adventure, Activities and Aloha Spirit Resource website. Discover Garden features the fun, unique, less commercialized and “non-touristy” locations, activities and people throughout the Hawaiian islands. Muku Studios designed, developed and maintains the website using Wordpress.
