About Us

Muku Studios was originally founded in Hawaii by David and Jana Morgan. We began as a small freelance design studio. While we still accept the very occasional contract job, our focus has shifted away from client work and towards other endeavors. Jana stays busy with her booming wedding photography business, Jana Morgan Photography. David has collaborated with his friend and founded Invulu, Inc. The company is responsible for the creation of Organic Themes, a premium WordPress theme shop, and Kahuna Host, a WordPress cloud hosting provider. Other endeavors include the Blissful Blog, a free blog and community site for the wedding industry. We continually work to develop new projects and improve our existing ventures.

Muku Studios is now more of an outlet for David’s thoughts, personal work, and promoting our other endeavors. We are not closing the doors. We’re just evolving.

About David

David was born and raised in the swamps of Central Florida. He has been an illustrator since his youth, inspired by the comic strips of Calvin and Hobbes and Saturday morning cartoons. He attended the University of Central Florida for computer animation, where he had big dreams of creating concept art for Pixar and Blizzard. After a few rejection letters, he shifted his focus to design more or less out of necessity. David found design to be natural adaptation of his illustration and technical skills. He worked for a hot-shot design firm for a few years, then moved to Hawaii with his wife to start Muku Studios. David enjoys surfing, hiking, fishing, designing, old school video games and sometimes just doing nothing — which is a rare treat.

About Jana

Jana was born in Thailand and raised in Bangladesh. She spent her youth traveling the world over. Her parents helped develop third world countries, and continue to do so with their company AIDC. Jana’s travels and experiences sparked an interest in photography at an early age. Eventually she found herself in the Sunshine State attending the Ringling School of Art and Design. Luckily, David and Jana crossed paths. David wooed her with his country charm, and she couldn’t resist his shiny Jeep Wrangler. She has a raw talent for photography and design with a feminine touch. Jana enjoys longboarding tiny waves, photographing beautiful weddings and playing with her dogs. She is vegan, and it’s not a crime.

The couple married, and did whatever they could to free themselves from the shackles of a corporate lifestyle. The result was moving to Hawaii and starting Muku Studios. After 2 years on Oahu, they again relocated to Maui. Recently, they again relocated to La Jolla, California where they currently reside with their 2 crazy dogs, a quiver of surf boards and a healthy appetite for creativity. We’re making up the rest as we go.
