Muku means pure. Pure passion. Pure life. Pure design. We are a husband and wife team that develops creative design solutions for the web, print, broadcast and more. Muku Studios specializes in Identity Design, WordPress Theme Design and Development, Print Design, Flash Animation and more. Muku was founded in 2005 by David and Jana Morgan in Orlando, Florida. Since then, they have taken their show on the road. In the summer of 2007 they packed their bags, left everything behind and moved to the Hawaiian island of Oahu. After a couple years on Oahu, David and Jana relocated again to the peaceful island of Maui. They currently reside in Lahaina with their 2 dogs, a few surfboards and a healthy appetite for fresh design.

Muku has been published in various design books and magazines, received several awards and been featured on numerous websites. As a small company, Muku offers personal attention and direct contact with the designers, giving our clients an untainted vision of pure design. We love what we do, and we think it shows.

About David

DavidDavid was born and raised in the small town of Lakeland, Florida. He spent much of his youth outdoors camping, bass and snook fishing, wakeboarding and partaking in many other great redneck pastimes. He has always had a passion for art and illustrating imaginative characters. David attended the Harrison School of Visual and Performing Arts for high school where half of his classes were devoted to the visual arts. At the age of 17, he moved to Orlando to attend the University of Central Florida. He majored in computer animation. After graduating, while working an unpaid internship, he soon came to realize that sitting in a cubicle for hours on end rendering and fixing polygon issues was not the life he desired. In the meantime, David landed a graphic design job to pay the bills. It was love at first sight. Graphic design offered a freedom of art and life that computer animation could not. He hasn’t looked back since.

David designs in a bold and bright style that hearkens back to his wonder years, the 90’s. He loves hand and vector cartoon illustration, great logos, Calvin and Hobbes, The Goonies, adrenaline pumping Rock and Roll and surfing tasty 6-8 foot faces.

About Jana

JanaJana was born in Thailand and spent her youth traveling and living the world over. Despite most people’s initial reaction — Jana is no army brat. Her family works to develop third world countries and she was along for the culturally engrossing ride. Jana developed a passion for photography at an early age over seas. That passion was carried through her education where she attended the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Fortunately, Jana and David crossed paths in Florida, and long story short, fell in love and got married.

Jana brings a more feminine touch to her design style along with a wonderful photographic eye. When she is not designing for Muku Studios, she is working steadily on her wedding photography business, janamorgan.com. Jana loves vegan meals, longboarding knee-high peelers, indie rock music, Rumi and watching her dogs play in the pineapple fields.
