New Logopond Status Icons

Logopond Logos

Sweet! When uploading new logos to logopond, there’s now the option to choose the status of your logo. The status options are as follows: In Use By Client, Unused Proposal, Student Work, For Sale and This Was Done Just For Fun. This minor change has renewed my interest in logopond.

Lately, it seemed a majority of the featured logos on the site had been created “just for fun.” That’s great and all, most of them are beautiful logos, but I think in many cases it undermines the challenge of creating a logo for a real client. Unfortunately, most real clients don’t have ideal and clever company names for designers to work with. That’s half the battle of creating a great logo. We’re more often than not presented with the challenge of extremely long and ambiguous titles. I couldn’t help but look at so many of the logopond featured logos and think to myself, “How was the designer lucky enough to get a client with such a great company name!?” Don’t get me wrong, I’ve created my fair share of logos for “make believe” companies. But when those types of logos become the majority of featured work on a logo submission website, I start to lose interest in submitting “real” logos. The new status options have solved that issue for me.

Also, there is now the option of listing logos for sale using the new status icons. It seems the logos are not directly sold through logopond. So potential clients can contact the designer to request the price of the logo being offered. I have several designs I have created for fun that I often think, “Man, this would be a great logo mark for a surf company!” However, I don’t have the time to hunt down a surf company willing to purchase the mark. Now when people view my showcase, they can immediately see what logos are for sale.

Overall, I think this is a great little step for logopond. My vigor has been restored, and I’ll be adding more logos to my showcase real soon!
