The New Pepsi Logo

Pepsi Bottles With New Logo

My initial reaction to the new logo was disgust. It looked to me like they gave their previous logo to an 8-year-old playing Mario Paint and just waited for some kind of result. Only the 8-year-old was paid millions of dollars to re-brand the face of Pepsi. However, I have to admit it’s growing on me. I like that Pepsi has stepped away from the gradients, bevels, shines and drop shadows of the past and moved on to this clean approach. Although the marks still feel a little off balance to me, I like the concept behind the 3 variations of the logo. I’m not entirely sold on the font, but time will tell. As I’m sure I’ll see this logo around every corner for the next 10 years. I just hope 10 years from now Pepsi chooses Muku Studios for their re-branding.

Aside from the blatant Obama identity ripoff, this logo works — at least in the short term.

Long term; eh — not so much!

I agree, the Pepsi logo is growing on me even though it came as a shock at first. Now that I see three different Pepsi products together, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Pepsi Max with the slight logo variations, their change has almost won me over.

  5. I’ve heard some comments that it resembles Pres. Obama’s campaign logo… Interesting! – JG :)

Since we’re still discussing… the pepsi ident is working. As does any light bauhaus face on a slant at this point. It occurred to me that the key was in the Max — my son’s name is max, as opposed to say, coke zero. Zero or Max? Your call. Not that I consume either.
